An incredibly gifted pianist, Random Act Artist Kenny Drew Jr. is equally at home in both the jazz and classical realms. After winning the Great American Jazz Piano Competition, he has played and recorded with many notable musicians, including Stanley Turrentine, Stanley Jordan, the Mingus Big Band, and Jack Wilkins. Kenny has recorded several of his own albums, and he continues to perform around the world at clubs and at festivals.
His interpretations of the classical repertoire, including Schumann, Mozart and Liszt, are on par with any pianist anywhere. Kenny is one of the rare musicians who span any and all musical boundaries. He has been called a “perfect pianist.”
Kenny has recorded 18 albums as a leader, and has appeared as a sideman on many more. CORAL SEA, featuring Jon Burr on bass and Marty Morell on drums, is his first trio album in over 10 years.
